PNW Co-op's lentils and garbanzo beans earn national award
Legumes grown by Pacific Northwest Farmers Cooperative earned the top prize at the 2020 Good Food Awards, presented Jan. 17, 2020.
PNW Co-op's three winning legumes are: Madeline French green lentils, Pardina brown lentils and Pedrosillano garbanzo beans. They're grown on family farms within a 60-mile radius of Pullman, Wash., and Moscow, Idaho.
The 10th Good Food Awards were presented by the Good Food Foundation Jan. 17, 2020, in San Francisco, Calif. PNW Co-op's lentils and garbanzo beans placed first in the grains category and earned top scores among 1,835 entries. The full list of winners is available at goodfoodfdn.org.
"Each of the 2020 winners demonstrates both a mastery of their craft and a commitment to maintaining exceptionally high social and environmental standards in their work," the Good Food Foundation stated in their news release dated Jan. 17, 2020.
