What makes our green split peas special? They’re sun-dried fresh. And the fresher the pea, the greener it is. Our peas are shipped to stores soon after harvesting, so they’re a vibrant green and cook quickly.   TIP: If you want to keep your peas green, keep them in the dark. Continuous exposure to light will bleach the peas. 

 

New to cooking? 

If you can boil water, you can cook split peas. Unlike garbanzo beans, green split peas don’t need to be soaked before cooking. Follow our simple cooking instructions below. For tips on how to cook lentils and garbanzo beans, check our cooking tips and get started. 

 

Cooking is as easy as 1-2-3 

  • Rinse and sort: Rinse under cold water and remove any foreign material that’s not a pea.
  • Bring to a boil and simmer for 30 - 45 minutes
  • Enjoy!

 

TIP: For every cup of dried split peas, use 2 cups water or broth.

Yield: 1 cup raw = 2.5 cups cooked
